100 Years of Bryn Mawr Women’s Lacrosse

Legacy Video, Historical Storytelling & Motion Graphics
The Challenge

The Bryn Mawr School needed a legacy video that could honor 100 years of women’s lacrosse while making the program’s history feel alive and relevant to a contemporary audience. The story had to connect the program’s founding, its relationship to Rosabelle Sinclair, its evolution across generations, and its continued meaning for students, athletes, alumnae, and the school community.

The challenge was to create more than a commemorative recap. The video needed to feel historically grounded, emotionally engaging, and visually polished while weaving together archival materials, interviews, athletic tradition, and current student experience into one cohesive anniversary story.

Goal

The goal was to produce a polished anniversary video that celebrated the legacy of Bryn Mawr women’s lacrosse and showed how the program’s history continues to be carried forward. The piece needed to recognize the significance of the program’s 1926 founding, honor generations of athletes and coaches, and create a story that could be shared with students, alumnae, families, and the broader school community.

Audience

The primary audience included Bryn Mawr students, alumnae, families, faculty, coaches, athletics supporters, and members of the school community connected to the lacrosse program’s history.

The video also served a broader storytelling purpose by helping viewers understand the cultural and historical significance of Bryn Mawr’s role in the development of women’s lacrosse.

Approach

The video was developed as a legacy story rather than a standard athletics highlight piece. The structure connected historical context, archival materials, interview voices, and contemporary student experience to show how the program’s early foundation continues to shape its identity today.

The production process included developing the narrative structure, researching historical context, shaping interview themes, filming key voices, integrating archival materials, editing the story, creating supporting graphics, and managing audio pacing and visual transitions. The goal was to move between history and present-day experience in a way that felt natural, respectful, and emotionally engaging.

The final piece used interviews, archival imagery, program history, and visual storytelling to connect tradition with continuity. Rather than presenting the anniversary as a static milestone, the video framed the program as a living legacy carried forward by each generation.

Creative Direction

The creative direction balanced historical reverence with contemporary school storytelling. Archival materials and historical references helped establish the program’s legacy, while interview footage and current imagery brought warmth, immediacy, and personal connection to the story.

The visual style used cinematic pacing, clean motion graphics, archival photo treatments, and carefully timed transitions to create a polished anniversary piece. The tone was reflective, celebratory, and forward-looking, with an emphasis on legacy, tradition, mentorship, and the lasting influence of women’s athletics at Bryn Mawr.

Outcome

The final video became a polished anniversary story celebrating 100 years of Bryn Mawr women’s lacrosse. It connected the program’s historical roots to its present-day impact and created a shareable piece for school communications, athletics storytelling, alumnae engagement, and community recognition.

The project gave the school a lasting video asset that honored the program’s history while showing how its legacy continues through current students, coaches, and generations of Bryn Mawr athletes.
